A free zone company can wash cars on the mainland through a DET branch licence or permit (Executive Council Resolution 11 of 2025). Mainland income can affect QFZP status.

Banks treat a car wash as a standard service business. Takings arrive in many small card and cash payments, with subscriptions and monthly invoices to building managers or fleet owners on top. Questions come where cash runs high. They also come when the site lease is missing from the file.   1. A lease signed before the drainage check

    A unit with no route for wash water to an approved point can mean a costly fit-out change or a second search. The municipality's rules apply to the site, whatever the licence says.

  2. Car park washes with no building consent

    Washing in a tower's basement depends on the owner or building manager agreeing in writing. Crews who start without it are usually asked to leave, and the contract goes with them.

  3. Tyre and battery jobs on a wash licence

    Mobile mechanical services are a separate activity under the RTA's vehicle rules. A crew that drifts into tyre changes or battery swaps is trading outside its licence and its insurance.

How to start a mobile car wash business in Dubai?

Begin with a DET licence that names car washing, since most customers park on the mainland. The van then has to keep wash water off the roads and car park drains, which means capturing it or using waterless products. If the crew will also do tyres or batteries, that is an RTA permit activity and goes on the plan first.

Do I need Dubai Municipality approval for a car wash?

Yes, for the way you handle water and waste. Dubai's public health order allows vehicle washing water to be discharged only where the municipality designates, and used oil may not go into the sewer. A bay connected to the sewer usually needs a trade wastewater permit as well, so we check the site before fit-out.

Can I run a car wash in a building car park?

Yes, with the building's written consent and a way to keep wash water out of the car park drains. Most parking car washes use waterless or low-water products for that reason. The trade licence covers the activity, and the consent from each building is what lets your crew work there.

Is car detailing licensed differently from a car wash in Dubai?
