Dental clinic licence, built around your dentists

A dental clinic licence pairs DET with DHA, and your dentists' DHA licences usually set the opening date.

A dental clinic licence in Dubai is a DET trade licence with a Dubai Health Authority (DHA) facility licence behind it. DHA expects a general dental clinic to have a full-time general dentist and a full-time registered nurse. Both need DHA licences. X-ray units need a separate licence from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR).

Treatments on a dental clinic licence

The clinic sells dental care from DHA-licensed dentists. What each dentist is privileged to do shapes the menu.

Covered

Not covered

  • Covered by a standalone dental laboratory licence
  • Covered by Medical equipment trading
  • Covered by a day surgery centre or hospital
  • Covered by Aesthetic clinic

Face Botox and fillers are open to orthodontists, prosthodontists and maxillofacial surgeons, never general dentists, so we match that line to your team first.

Mainland clinic or healthcare free zone

Most patients book close to home or work. That puts the clinic on the Dubai mainland, under DET and DHA.

A free zone company that wants a clinic outside its zone needs a DET branch licence or permit (Executive Council Resolution 11 of 2025). Fees from individual patients sit outside QFZP qualifying income.

Opening a dental clinic in Dubai

The DHA facility licence stays inactive until the final inspection, and a licensed dentist and nurse must be on it by then. X-ray units add a FANR licence on its own clock.

Treatment plans, imports and the bank

Bank viewStandard; imported equipment and upfront treatment plans draw questions

Banks treat a dental clinic as a standard healthcare business once DHA has activated it. Questions come from two directions. Chairs, scanners and imaging units are often bought abroad in the first months, and patients pay upfront for aligner or implant plans. We put the DHA approval, the equipment invoices and your plan terms into the account file together before the bank asks.

AMLNot a DNFBP activity; the bank's own customer checks still apply.

What holds up a dental clinic opening

  1. A dentist still waiting on DHA

A dentist licensed abroad goes through DHA licensing before treating anyone in Dubai. The clinic cannot activate without its full-time general dentist. That licence often outlasts the fit-out, because DHA verifies credentials first.

  2. X-ray rooms drawn without shielding

Radiation protection belongs in the building plans. FANR licenses the X-ray equipment before its first patient. A room drawn without shielding is opened up again after the walls are finished.

  3. A clinic lab taking outside work

A lab inside a dental clinic may only make work for its own patients or for dentists in the same ownership group. Orders from other clinics need a standalone dental laboratory licence.

Ask on WhatsApp

How much does a dental clinic licence cost in Dubai?

A dental clinic licence cost in Dubai depends mostly on the chairs, the imaging and the dentists you bring in. DHA room rules, X-ray shielding and clinical visas weigh more than the trade licence. You get a written quote before anything starts, and it only changes if your plans do.

What are the requirements for a dental clinic licence in Dubai?

A DET trade licence, a DHA facility licence and a unit built to DHA rules. The clinic needs a full-time general dentist and registered nurse, both DHA-licensed. It also needs a sterilisation area outside the dental rooms and a medical waste contract. X-ray units add a FANR licence. We check the unit before the lease.

Can a foreigner open a dental clinic in Dubai?

Yes. Dental clinics are open to foreign owners on the Dubai mainland, and the owner does not have to be a dentist. DHA licenses the clinic and each dentist separately, so a dentist who owns the clinic still needs a personal DHA licence to treat patients. We check the ownership against DET's current activity list first.

Do dental X-rays need a separate licence in the UAE?

Yes. Any clinic using X-ray equipment needs a licence from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), on top of the DHA facility licence. Radiation protection goes into the room plans. The clinic also names a radiation protection officer. The FANR licence runs on its own timeline, so we start it with the equipment order.

Can a dental clinic have its own lab in Dubai?

Yes, as an add-on to the clinic's DHA licence. The lab needs at least two qualified dental lab technicians. It may only make work for the clinic's own patients or dentists in the same ownership group. Crowns or dentures for other clinics need a standalone dental laboratory, licensed by DHA as its own facility.
