Event management licence plus event permits
The company licence in Dubai is issued once and renewed. Each event still needs its own DET event permit.

An event management company in Dubai holds a trade licence from the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) or from a free zone, and the client base decides which. Each event then needs its own DET event permit, a ticketing permit if tickets are sold, and a Dubai Sports Council permit if it is a sports event.

What event management covers
Organising sits on the licence. Much of the work around an event belongs to other activities, or to permits of its own.

Selling tickets needs its own permit on top of the event permit, and selling as an agent for other organisers is a separate activity.
Where to license an event company
Either route can hold the organising licence, and the event permit applies wherever the company is licensed.
| If most of your clients are | Likely route | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Mainland companies booking events in Dubai | Mainland (DET) | A mainland licence invoices these clients directly, with no branch step |
| Free zone companies and overseas clients | Free zone | A free zone licence suits clients based outside the mainland |
| A mix, with events at Dubai venues | Either route | Free zone organisers can register with DET for event permits too |
A free zone company can reach mainland clients through a DET branch licence or permit (Executive Council Resolution 11 of 2025). Event permits apply on either route, and mainland income can affect QFZP status.
Several free zones license this activity; we match the zone to your visas, office and banking. Compare free zones

Who approves each event
DET licenses the company on the mainland, or the free zone authority does. After that, approvals run per event: the DET event permit first, the ticketing permit after it, and the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) for any sports event.

What repeats for every event
The company licence is settled once and renewed each year, while the permit chain starts again with every event you take on.
We map the permits for your first events before you sign client contracts, since ticketed or sports events add approvals.

How banks see event money
Bank viewCloser look: client deposits in, large supplier payouts out
Event income arrives in lumps. A client deposit lands, large supplier payments go out within days, and then the account is quiet until the next booking. That pattern is normal for the trade, though a new account with no history draws questions on contracts and supplier flows. We put the first client contracts and the main supplier agreements into the bank file, so each payment has a reason behind it.
AMLNot a DNFBP activity; the bank's own customer checks still apply.
Where event companies slip
Tickets on sale before the permit
A ticketing permit needs a valid event permit first, with the venue's NOC alongside it. Selling tickets before both are in place puts the event, and the organiser's standing with DET, at risk.
Treating the free zone licence as the permit
Organising an event at a Dubai venue needs a DET event permit, and the events decree applies inside free zones too. The free zone licence covers the company, and the event still needs its own permit.
Sports events booked as corporate ones
A fun run or padel tournament for a client is a sports event and needs a Dubai Sports Council permit; venues may not host it without one. Using Dubai in the event name needs DSC approval too.
